It hadn't been easy for the aliens to come to Earth, what with the way people are and all. But the Venusans were persistent because the negative energy emanating out of the ozone hole in Earth's atmosphere was upsetting the delicate balance of Venus's orbit. The first of the aliens were shot down by the military but after repeated attempts the Venusans got through to a few open minded people that had the foresight and wisdom to see that they were trying to help. The year was 2014. Nobody had expected the speed and devastation of the destructive policies that the Republicans had come to bear on the earth's resources during the last ten years.
Angelica was a Venution. She stood about five foot eleven inches in bare feet. She had a neck like a giraffe and a bluish white complexion. Bobby and Martin were watching her make slow, graceful maneuvers over a field near Kenny Bunkport Main. Bobby was jumping up and down with excitement.
"Can I try? Can I try?
"Of course you can." Angelica said as she drifted lazily down next to Bobby and Martin on her saucer disk. She dismounted and helped Bobby clip his shoes into the footholds on the side of the disk. Off Bobby rose like a surfer riding through the air. Bobby rode it like a pro subtly shifting his weight to make the disk turn and bank above the trees. Soon he was 'hoopen and hollern' as he did somersaults. "Not so wild, Bobby!" Called out Angelica wearily.
Martin was much more controlled, spiritual almost, but Bobby was incorrigible. Just then Bobby nicked the top of a tree on the low end of a loop de loop and crashed wildly out of control, head over heals through the top most branches. There was a great cracking and slicing of branches as the saucer careened through leaves. Bobby landed in a bush. The Saucer, of course, had gyroscopic safety features. No one could get hurt - even crazy people like Bobby.
"For heaven sake, Bobby," Angelica muttered as she strode over to the bush. "Look what you have done, destroying beauty is not cool even if it is by accident!"
Bobby flushed, he could feel tears welling up in his eyes, He loved Angelica and her anger could cut him like a knife. "Come, get up." She helped him to his feet and picked up the saucer. Bobby's crash hadn't hurt the saucer but it did drown out the sound of a combustion engine. It was now becoming plainly audible and the threesome gathered closely together. A Man in a plaid jacked rode into the clearing on a four wheel ATV He came on fast making huge tracks through virgin grass. He skidded to a halt in front Angelica. "What are you doin' here?"
"We're just practicing on the saucer dish, we're getting pretty good at it, Ya wan'na try it out?" Bobby stepped forward between the man and Angelica. The man dismounted his ATV He strode past Bobby and took the dish out of Angelica's hands. He turned it over then threw it on the grass. "This is private property." There was a long silence then Bobby stuttered, "We didn't see any signs."
"Listen, you little democratic fool, I don't got to be posten no signs all over my property to keep you mice and vermin off of it! Take your trash can lid and get out of here." The man turned to leave. "We will fix the tree before we leave." Angelica said.
"To hell you won't. I said get out'a here and I mean get out now." Angelica strode defiantly over to the tree and placed her hands on it. The branches snapped and crackled back into place. Little shoots of new growth shot out of the places where branches had been sheered off even though it late autumn. The new growth looked like spring.
The man snorted. Shaking his head he walked over to Angelica. He grabbed a small branch next to her face and broke it with his hands. "I don't care what you can do. When I say get off my land I mean get!" He shouted "get" like he was a Cow Poke talking to a cow that had left the heard.
Angelica walked over to the dish and placed her feet into the stirrups. She motioned for Bobby and Martin to come to her. They each placed a foot into the side stirrups and Angelica embraced both of them. They rose over the treetops. The man watched them go with a scowl across his face. His eyes were small and mean. he had a low forehead. He spit into the grass then mounted his ATV and scratched off in a cloud of smoke and dirt mixed with late autumn grass.
