*
Momma was screaming.
Great buckets of water were brought.
Every knot in the house was untied.
Then, with the final opening of a chest of drawers
I emerged.
I climbed aboard my father's scaffold
and ascended through my life
catching the updrafts when I could.
And then we became Angels.
We looked down upon this Earth
and we said, "Let us go there!"
We dove down through the clouds
down through the ocean,
down onto the bottom of the sea
where nothing is as nothing was
as nothing is as it was meant to be.
Down there on the bottom of the sea.
We found things down there that we
never knew existed and all of our
preconceptions became somehow twisted
down there on the bottom of the sea
where nothing is as nothing was as nothing
is as it was meant to be.
We found Sea Shells, and Mermaids, and Leviathans,
and fish that glowed green, phosphorescent in the dark.
And we found the currents grew colder as we got older,
down there on the bottom of the sea, where nothing is
as nothing was as nothing is as it was meant to be.
Down there on the bottom of the sea.
And now we swim from town to town and sometimes
we yearn for sold ground.
And we find solace where ever solace can be found
by singing our songs to all the other angels
that are all around.
And we walk from town to town and sometimes
we yearn for solid ground,
down there on the bottom of the sea, where nothing is
as nothing was as nothing is as it was meant to be.
Down there on the bottom of the sea.
Momma was screaming.
Great buckets of water were brought.
Every knot in the house was untied.
And then with the opening of a chest of drawers
I emerged!
I climbed aboard my father's scaffold
and ascend through my life,
catching the updrafts when ever I could.
